Renfrew is a town located in the west central lowlands of Scotland. Its history dates back to the 12th century when King David I of Scotland granted the lands of Renfrew to Walter Fitzalan, the High Steward of Scotland. The town grew around Renfrew Castle, a strategic fortification situated on the banks of the River Clyde, which played an important role in the wars between Scotland and England. In the 19th century, Renfrew became a centre for shipbuilding, with major shipyards established along the river. The town was heavily bombed during World War II, resulting in significant damage to its buildings and infrastructure. After the war, Renfrew underwent extensive redevelopment, and today it is a thriving town with a mix of residential, commercial, and industrial areas. According to the latest census data from 2011, Renfrew has a population of around 9,500 people. Renfrew is also well connected to the rest of Scotland, with easy access to major transport links such as the M8 motorway, Glasgow Airport, and nearby train stations.
